My LG G3 with Lollipop just stopped reading my media in internal storage (not an SD card). The phone will no longer recognize the music or picture files I have in the Music folder or the DCIM/Camera folder. All the files are still there and un-corrupted as I have transferred them to my PC and viewed/listened to them there, the phone will just not display or play the files through the Gallery or native music player. Both Apps show no media available but in the native file browser and Astro file browser the files are there and I can view or play them from those locations using those apps as default. The phone just does not see them in the Apps. I have even installed 3rd party picture and music Apps and the files are still not showing up those Apps. Even more, I have taken new pictures with the camera and those will show up as the only pictures in the gallery. All the media I had there prior to the incident is still in memory but just wont be read by the phone. I have scoured the net and cannot find an answer. Any ideas?

So I tried the both suggestions from B. Diddy. Installed media.Re.Scan and scanned multiple times. I am not sure exactly what it's supposed to do. I think its supposed to find and update the files and reattach them to the app but that didn't work. I also rebooted into safe mode and the files still won't show up in my gallery or music players. Yet I can still view and use them from a file browser. I have also tried clear data from media storage to initiate a new media scan and that did not seem to work either. I will try to re-attach the media again if not it may be a sys reboot for me. Anyone know a good backup app?

media.Re.Scan is supposed to force the system's Media Scanner to rescan all areas of storage for photos, videos, or music to add to the respective database.

Just to be sure, use your file manager app and look through the directories where your photos are stored. Do you see any file called ".nomedia"? You may have to go into the file manager's settings and turn on the option to show hidden files. .nomedia instructs the system to ignore that directory and any subdirectories when scanning for media to put into the database.
