LG G3 overheating - but only on the upper part. Why?

Hello,
I know there are some heating issues with the G3, but mine is a bit different.
My G3 is hot all the time - even when the screen is off and he's just resting on the table or in my pocket. It's so damn hot that I can even make a call without burning my cheek (or using earbuds)
The wired thing is that only the upper part of the device is hot, just above the battery.
Does anybody know what i can do about it? I have this phone for only 3 days and It's impossible to use It.

I imagine that that's where the processor is and that something must be making it work hard all the time. What sort of battery life do you get?

belodion is correct. Directly under the power button is the snapdragon 801 cpu along with the 32gb memory module (they are sandwiching the motherboard pcb). This would account for all the heat usually being at that point.

However, that being said, your phone sounds like it is malfunctioning. Or there is an application running constantly taking up a lot of processing power, even while sleeping.
