Hello,
My phone is a 32 GB D855 running on v10i firmware without contract. We know there is a root checker in the hidden menu settings.
My question which root method would not trigger that root counter? We have options like ioroot stumproot twoelroot pruple drake lite and such.

Sorry if there has already been a thread created for this query.

Re: Question Prior to Root

hello,

i think i read somewhere that purple drake does not trigger the root checker. funny thing was i used towel root for my old sgs3 before i got the lg g3...now I'm just waiting for the best way to root and then customize, but if the ota comes, then it looks like we lose root & customizing and have to start again...purple drake is supposedly the best bet. good luck.

Re: Question Prior to Root

I didn't realize there was a counter for this phone..?

Re: Question Prior to Root

I used the purpledrake root method and it triggered the root counter. But I have read that going back to stock via the flashtool will reset it, although I can't confirm that.

Re: Question Prior to Root

I read that if you uninstall root through SuperSU it resets counter. Unless I miss read either way here is link to what I read.
[Q] Is there a root counter | LG G3 | XDA Forums

I didn't get that at all from reading that thread...

I went into the LG RCT menu to see it for myself on my phone (which has been rooted four times now). It shows a detection time of the last root. No number that increments.

I have rooted using TowelRoot (twice) and StumpRoot (twice).
I have un-rooted several ways, including flashing the stock rom and using SuperSU un-root.

(All done on a Verizon G3)

Re: Question Prior to Root

I believe using supersu does reset the counter because i have rooted with towel root twice as well and both times unrooted with super su. After unrooting. The root checker app said i was no longer rooted and my AVG security app also said i was no longer rooted. So i believe it did work.

Re: Question Prior to Root

root checker only tells you if the phone is rooted or not. It doesn't check the counter

Re: Question Prior to Root

I don't believe there is a root method that doesn't set off the phone's built-in root checker (it’s not a counter, just checks for root). Also, can't speak for SuperSU, but unrooting using the LG Flash Tool definitely resets the built-in root checker.

I am now clarified that this LG RCT thingy has never been a binary incremental root counter that I used to see on my past Samsung smartphones. It just says the Last Time Rooted status.
Right now my device is not rooted. It says>>
Hidden Menu>>LG RCT>> Display Result>> Not rooted [a pop-up]
Just to be clear no matter how many times I root my phone, if I unroot using the LG Flash Tool it will bring me back to this above mentioned status, right?
.Would have been cool if SuperSu would make do the same.

Re: Question Prior to Root

What counter?

whatever the name of the thing is that says if the phone has been rooted or not.

I remember when I unrooted my GS3 I used an app that reset the flash counter. So maybe since nothing has been flashed to the G3 it doesn't matter.

Re: Question Prior to Root

SuperSU does the same thing, and is a lot easier than flashing.

That's good to know. Thanks for the info. I didn't get to try SuperSU the last (and only) time I unrooted, as I was unrooting to exchange the phone and wanted to make sure everything was back to an out-of-box state.

I personally think if you are going to return the phone, you might as well flash using LG's tool. This way, if there are any other detentions they do, they shouldn't be able to find anything.

One of the people posted it. It's on page 2 I believe. But how did you access the LG RCT menu on Verizon? Cause it seems like the Sprint version where you can't access it through dialer.

Re: Question Prior to Root

towelroot will not trip the QFuse, only the root counter. The root counter will reset once the phone is flashed back.
