LG G3 shuts down almost every day

Suddenly the screen is blank. Battery level could be near full charge or not, doesn't matter. The power button will not restart it, it's basically a brick. When I remove and reinstall the battery it will then start again but sometimes it blacks out again quickly other times it stays on for quite a while. One odd quirk I noticed, if I connect it to a charger the screen shows the phone charging and then it will power back on. So, I stopped removing the battery and started charging it to get it going again. First thought, a bad app. I hadn't installed anything recently but I removed everything I didn't need anyway, no help. Before suggesting a factory reset read the following: BTW I am on T-Mobile.
1: This started when I went roaming in Europe while on the T-Mobile system. Went on for 6 weeks almost daily.
2: The same exact thing happened to my wife's LG G3 even though her apps are minimal. She basically uses text, email and Facebook.
3: My OS is 5.01 while wife's is 4.4.
We just got home so we will see if International roaming may have caused it or if the issue continues. Has anyone out there experience this? Very weird!

Welcome to Android Central!

Sounds like something buggy going on in the OS, have you tired doing a factory reset?

No kidding? Did you by chance read where I wrote, "Before suggesting a factory reset read the following:" So, if this was caused by an OTA update, due to international roaming and I do a reset, it will just repeat the next time I go overseas. So far it hasn't happened since I got home but then I'm not using the phone as much as when traveling. I did have days though when the phones shut down after very little use. Surely we are not the only ones to have had this happen. I just now realized one thing I did to both phones before starting our trip, I installed new 64 GB Samsung SD cards. I wonder if that was the cause.

Do you have apps that were moved to the SD card? I guess try removing it and see what happens.

I just removed the SD cards but since we are home now it will be hard to know if it was that or the international roaming. It hasn't happened since getting home with or without it.

Just a followup: It has been 6 months since I removed the Samsung 64GB SD cards from both phones and replaced them with 32GB cards. We haven't done any international roaming since but I suspect there were issues with the SD cards or the phones had issues with 64GB cards. I installed those cards specifically for the Europe trip thinking I needed the capacity but I really didn't, 32GB is already overkill.
