How do I edit my contacts?

There is no menu item to "edit" contacts in my generic contact app. Has it gone missing? I don't remember the last time using it. I don't have this "People's" app. I've failed to find a solution searching the Internet in the last hour+.

Did I accidentally set a security setting to block editing of contacts?
Is this a common issue related to the latest Android update?
Will I have to install another contacts app?

Contact Menu items I do have (3 vertical dots):

Refresh
Delete
Join
Set as default
Add to Home screen
All calls to voice mail __

Try pulling individual contacts if on phone.. If using Google/Gmail you can edit contacts on the Web browser on your computer or mobile Web

Sent using my Verizon Turbo charged 64GB Ballistic Nylon phone unfortunately with a case on back

Yes, I've gone to individual contacts, and the above menu items are all I'm given. I've also failed to find where you edit contacts through Google/Gmail. I would need specific step-by-step directions on that.

Don't you have a pencil symbol to tap next to the 3 verticle dots(menu)

Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Nope, no pencil symbol. And I've been playing with this thing a bunch to figure it out. I restarted the phone too.

Ok, I just discovered something. Contacts that seem to have been pulled from a Facebook sync (both with or without phone numbers) don't have the ability to edit, but my other contacts do - the pencil edit icon shows for these.

Is there a better contacts app out there that can replace my default app to solve these issues?
