AC Question

Hi Everyone

I have a LG G4 mobile with Sr No : S/N :507KPHG695248.

Since today morning I face the problem with the "KnockOn" Function.

LG's smartphones have long featured the so-called KnockON function. It's what you would call a "double tap to wake" – when the phone's screen is off, you just tap on it twice, and the device wakes up. Alternatively, if the phone is on, you knock twice on an empty spot in the home screen and it will go to sleep.

But in my phone many a times "double tap to wake" is not responding. Even the power button does not respond simultaneously.

I try these two ways to awake my phone:

1) insert the charger pin & phone awakes immediately.

2) take out the battery & replace again & start the phone.

Kindly suggest a proper solution.

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-21962

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.

I believe the phone does have the screen in a somewhat low powered mode that may miss taps. I used the knock patterns and the success rate with the screen off was like %35. Just keep tapping away until it wakes up. If the double tap is the worst of your issues, you don't have an issue.

My double tap to wake stopped working after getting my LG G4 back from a repair done at LG (they replaced the motherboard). Tried it in Safe Mode and the problem was still there. Just contacted LG about this a few hours back and hope they do something appropriate to make up for all this BS I've dealt with. Can't say my expectations are too high though.

I had the same issue. They sent me a replacement phone. The knock on feature works great now. I think mine might have been from the phone being dropped. Screen was not harmed but the front facing camera and the knock on did not work so well after that.

I notice knock on works just fine UNTIL I turn the phone face down. Then it won't work after that. Baffles me but perhaps it may give someone more expert than me a clue.
