Hey, about two months ago I purchased an open box T-Mobile LG G5 from a reputable eBay seller. The first month, I didn't notice any problems, but the past month my phone battery is losing juice much faster. The stock battery setting is saying the top culprits are "phone idle", Android os, castbox (which I do use a lot), and kernel os. I have since downloaded system monitor, better battery stats, and gsam battery monitor. I will post all the screenshots I took of my last full charge down to about 14%. The gsam app is saying the phone is being woken up hundreds of times by Android os. Also, better battery stats is saying there are hundreds if not thousands of alarms being sent to my phone from Android. Overall, it just seems my phone doesn't get into deep sleep much but stays in the awake with screen off category. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you would need any more information.

I posted a lot of pictures but I can only see the one. If for some reason the rest aren't showing up let me know and I'll post them from my PC. thanks

It would be helpful to see the cell signal strength graph from GSam, since poor cell signal is a common culprit for battery drain.

Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Do these graphs help narrow down what's causing the problem? Also, as a suggestion someone else offered I put my phone into safe mode but was still having problems with the phone idle and OS drain.

Those stats don't help pinpoint things that much, unfortunately. Phone Idle can be associated with poor cell signal, but it looks like your signal strength is mostly pretty good. Have you already tried a new battery? Since you bought it used, it's hard to know how aggressively the previous owner treated the battery. If it was discharged frequently to near-zero, that can significantly reduce the battery's ability to hold a charge after only about a year.

Ok, I will try that. So an old/defective battery could be resulting in the "phone idle" battery drain category? Thanks for the help!

I don't think it'd be causing the Phone Idle category itself -- it's probably more that the overall battery life for everything is reduced, while the proportionate use by each app or service is the same.

Hey, so I got my new battery and calibrated it. Also, I factory reset my phone. I'm still getting the same phone idle and android os/ kernel OS high battery consumption. What else should I try next?
