lg g5 random screen overlays (not the message issue)

I don't know if this issue is isolated to me or the g5 but I've been getting random screen overlays from a previous screen. The overlay will persist for a random but long amount of time and will even pop up on the start up screen. I've already done factory reset to no avail. Fyi I'm on nougat.

This is what it looks like. The keyboard and message from a closes out conversation overlays on top of the Snapchat camera screen.
