4 days after they shut down 3g, my daughters lg g8x thinq will not make or receive calls, the phone works for text messages but incoming calls go straight to voicemail, and out going calls come right up with the call ended flashing in red.... I have gone through all the call settings, and also went through all the dialer app settings, and nothing is wrong or set incorrectly, been googling this issue for days and everything they say to try does not work... hoping someone here has some ideas... thanks!

Do you have AT&T? Is your daughter's phone an AT&T branded device, or is it unlocked from another carrier?

it is AT&T phone and is locked to AT&T, however i am not with AT&T for service i am with H2o wireless...
we just bought new sim cards at target and h2o transferred them all over, and that did not solve her issue either, they thought maybe it was caused by the older sim cards we had before...

Welcome to Android Central! Try reconfiguring your phone for use with H2O: https://www.h2owireless.com/simconfig

FYI, their help page about "Phone Not Working" says they're getting high call volumes due to the 3G shutdown, so it sounds like you're not alone.

took me 3 days on hold 4 hours a day to get through to them, when i put the new sim chip in it, it automatically downloads all the new configuration, and i did install them... today i noticed however that the phone dialer app is nowhere to be found in the apps section, so i can't disable it, or clear cache, but it is still on her home screen, and when we click it, it opens up, but it don't work for calls, and i am thinking this could be a problem... however i downloaded google dialer and that does not work either.... then i noticed it is saying emergency calls only, so now i am thinking it ain't connecting up to h20 servers....

want to make a note here, that i tried her sim chip in my phone and it works just fine, but her chip and my chip do not work in her phone, so it is a problem with her phone... not sure what the problem is, but none of the sim chips i have here will connect to the h2o servers in her lg g8x thinq phone, but they connect just fine in my new moto g power 2021 model phone....
I found this list of AT&T locked phones that AT&T say will work after the 3g shutdown, her phone is listed on here as working after the shutdown, however i must note that they also have the ZTE Blade Spark listed as working after the shutdown, and my Blade Spark is not working anymore so i had to get my mom a new phone to replace it...

To find the Phone app in the Settings>Apps menu, you might have to tap Menu and Show System Apps.

Some info I found out, since all my phones are AT&T prepaid devices, i tried the AT&T prepaid unregistered sims in all the phones i have that do not work anymore... The AT&T sims worked in 4 out of 4 of my dead phones... After i shut down and replaced the sims with my H2O sims, the phones now work... somehow inserting those AT&T sims did something that allows the H2O sims to work... however if you do a factory reset on the phone then it no longer works, it works with the AT&T chip but the H2O chips never work again... its weird I know, but i played with 3 phones for 3 hours plus here, trying to get a phone to work for my kid... also make a note that this trick only worked on two ZTE phones, and my old Nokia, this trick did not work at all on my kids LG g8x thinq, which is the phone i would love to get working again....

what i found that worked on 3 older phones that were not connecting is the APN file for h2O... If you put your H2O sim chip in your phone and it don't work then just create a new APN file with the correct settings and it will work after you shut down and reboot.... I took the settings from my phone that was working and put them into the phones that were not working, and now all my phones work once again....

My Daughters LG G8X ThinQ is still not working, the reason for this is the APN configuration... LG does not have the same APN configuration as other phones, there is no MVNO Type or MVNO Value, so those can not be set in the LG, which is why it does not connect to the H2O server... I guess LG or AT&T is going to have to fix this problem for people....

Did you buy the phone brand new from AT&T ? How long ago did you buy the phone ?
