LG Intuition delays phone calls

When I attempt to make a phone call on my LG Intuition, after I press send there is often a delay of several minutes before the call is placed. What do I need to do to correct that problem. There is no way my phone would be reliable for an emergency call.

Bring the phone into your carrier's store - it could be a phone issue, it could be a backhaul issue (the connection from the tower to the carrier's equipment), it could be something wrong in how your account is set up - it's not something you're going to solve by yourself. (It's probably not something they'll solve in the store either - they'll probably have to call someone further up the food chain.)
