LG Optimus "download in progress. do not disconnect cable"

So my phone got wet, I pulled out the battery & left it to dry for a couple of hours (5 or 6). I then plugged my charger in. The screen turned blue said something about system recovery the switched to LG red logo & download in progress. do not disconnect cable. Its been over an hour is that normal. Just to let everyone know I'm not a phone wiz.

yeah i'm getting the same message but it's on a lg esteem. other reports of starying like that for 30 minutes. and the progress wheel never moved once? Better take it back get another .

I have a LG Esteem and like every other day I will get that "downloaded in progress, do not disconnect" and I have to take my battery out but what else can I do about that issue.
