hi everyone!

I really hope someone can help me out.

I just activated my virgin mobile account today, I kept my old phone # from another carrier and made it my virgin #. Now I payed my bill and activated the phone but I still can't make or receive calls. Do I have to cancel my old account first before virgin will allow me to use the phone?

I tried calling virgin but cant find a number to speak to a live person and they haven't answered my email.

Do not cancel your old account until the number gets ported to VM, or you risk losing the number. Sometimes porting a number can take up to 24 hours.

The customer service number for Virgin Mobile is 1-888-322-1122. Follow the prompts and press O when you come to a dead end. Eventually you should get a customer service rep (CSR). Explain your problem and request to talk to someone in the number porting department. Those folks are usually a bit more technical. Be aware that VM's customer service departments are mostly located overseas and you may have to be patient with their non-American English. Most CSR's will usually be as helpful as they can.

When you sign up with Virgin Mobile, and especially if you are using a phone that was previously used, you will have to call their support line and they will walk you through changing the phone number and other fields in the phone before the phone will work. There may be instructions on how to access those fields elsewhere on support forums. They're accessed by using the phone keyboard starting with ## followed by the particular field access code.
