LG Optimus V Recall Due to 3G Problems?

I just called a Target Store in my area to inquire about purchasing the LG Optimus V and was told that no stores has these phones in stock because the LG Optimus V has been recalled due to 3G related problems. Has anyone else heard of such a recall of this phone?

Edit: Just to expand, she said the existing stock was "pull" to fix the 3-G problem, so no stores had them in stock. Maybe recall might not have been a good term for her to use.

First I've heard. Sounds like typical retail employee nonsense to me. Show me a press release and I'll believe it.

It's selling out because it's high in demand...

I doubt there is a recall since they still have commercials for it still running.

Sent from my LG Optimus V using Tapatalk

BestBuy and RadioShack still have it in stock and on sale.

I haven't heard anything about the Optimus V being recalled, or pulled, or whatever else you want to call it.

I certainly wouldn't trust the word of a single Target employee on this matter.

It was never listed on targets website. Welll it was kind of it was in the ad on the website but not on the site itself.

I don't think they have been recalled because I just got another one from Best Buy today, they finally got another shipment in. I've been trying to get one for 13 days to replace mine that had some graphic glitches.

The only websites I've found it on were Amazon, Virgins, Radio Shack, and Best Buy. Walmart had a small shipment to most stores 2 weeks ago and Target had it only in the advert.

Just bought one from my local Radioshack last week, and my friend went to buy one the other day and they were just sold out. They're back in stock now and my Radioshack hadn't said anything about 3G issues.

I think the "Recall" is BS just from the sound of it...

Why would one large retailer(and not the largest, Wal-Mart) talk about a recall...?

The 3G issue is infrastructure related... Period

Don't get me wrong, my 3G speeds have tripled, but my data is still dropping out once an hour or so...

I work for Target, and this is not true. At least not at my store. We get new V's in all the time.

The issue with our phone isn't infrastructure related, it is a specific bug with the Optimus V. The samsung intercept did not display this issue, and no black berry user has ever complain about data no longer working to the point where the device would have to be brought in and out of airplane mode to restore data function.

The relatively low cost of the phone, along with the $25 unlimited data and 300 minutes per month has brought a huge influx of new smartphone customers to the table. You're seeing more problems reported because of these newbies getting their service and not understanding its limitations, as well as the sheer number added to the customer base, which may be a cause of the widespread loss of 3G for a day.

They prolly had one left and the employee wanted it. They are selling like mad. Store employees are known to do that.

The "bug" is more likely a combination of Virgin Mobile not properly provisioning phones, which has affected some users, battery saving apps which shut off 3G without users realizing it which then requires phone restarts, and new users not realizing the fact that 3G service levels can vary based on signal and other factors. It's fair to say the Optimus has sold like no other Android 3G phone in U.S. history, and Sprint/VM has been overwhelmed. Provisioning issues are such that one user was recently told anything related to that now requires a 5 day wait. There's nothing wrong, generally, with the phones...they seem to be little tanks. It's Virgin, and users.

I kind of did something similar lol instead i didnt tell anyone it wasnt available. The truck with the shipment of stuff came in and i went back there looking for something else. Spotted the phone (amongst 7 others), grabbed it, and held it till the end of my shift before i bought it. WIN! lol.

Just recently, I've started having problems with my 3G speeds. It makes a lot of sense that the little prepaid company that could finally get 3G would have problems with basically having too many customers trying to connect at once. I'm sure they're very limited at the moment, and will probably upgrade again. Sure, 3G is 3G, but you get what you pay for, and the service providers that charge more are probably conditioned to handle a lot more people connecting at once right now. As far as a recall goes, wouldn't VM notify their customers of this issue? It doesn't make any sense to me though. It's not completely a phone problem. Although, some people might have their 3G switched off by mistake, it's mostly a VM limitation issue. The way I see it is, if you want to continue paying low prices, wait it out while VM does their upgrades. This 3G and smartphone thing is still relatively new to them, and they gotta work out some issues.
