They still maintain smart phones are important and they are maintaining same level of R&D for smartphones.

Even before this, updates were unlikely.

LG makes many appliances and they already have a large TV presence. I would imagine that resources move around regularly across their divisions as they focus on delivering new technology to a given field.

It's just a hunch, but I don't think this much of a news item.
