I just saw this video on YouTube that said LG has closed down its smartphone business as it couldn't get a buyer.

That is very sad, but perhaps unsurprising in the current market. The LG Wing was a bit too weird for me. But their rollable phone looked interesting.

Sad. I will have to be looking at a One Plus or Pixel down the road.

My V60 will have to last. Still have my V40 and V20 as well.

It surprises me it took them this long, their smartphone business hasn't been profitable in like 5 years. If they weren't a large electronics company they never would have had the revenue to last this long.

Very true

It is sad... my very first smartphone was an LG Thrive, which I still have and it still works. Great little starter phone :D I was really looking forward to their rollable phone as well. Maybe they'll regroup and give phones another go :p

there has been several articles about LG over the last couple of months about selling the phone business and more recently closing their phone division. It is too bad they are killing their own brand no matter what they do. Who wants to buy a phone from a company with an unknown future.

Can one still get a V60?

Swappa.com has some available. I think they're all carrier locked (U.S.), tho. I bought my tmobile V60 from there about 4 months(?) ago. Got one listed as *mint* condition. Very pleased with the purchase.

I'm sorry to hear this news. I personally never owned a LG phone, but now there will be people who loose their jobs & that's truly sad.
:(

Ditto. Very few other brands interest me, and none I've actually wanted to buy. I think my next purchase will be quite a tough one, especially since no one else has such advanced manual A/V camera controls.

They had a couple of concept phones that I might have been interested in if fully developed - especially the rollable phone.

It's bad news all together , HTC,LG,Sony
We going be left with,Samsung,Google,One Plus,Motorola for most in US on Android phones

I agree with you. Unfortunately that tried to fill a niche market that couldn't support it. They have been dead for more than 5 years.

Well, I am hoping that Sony gets their act together and makes the upcoming Xperia 1 iii fully supported here in the USA! If they do, then I am almost certainly in the purchasing camp! If not, then they deserve to die on the ash heap of losers. Like you said that doesn't leave us with much competition...SMH

I'm also not surprised... They have made some good phones over the years.. But judging from how fast the price drops on LG phones I feel their stragedy to start is not a good one...

I feel the same about the Asus ROG phones. The last I checked, they are not very compatible with U.S. carriers, despite being officially sold here. If they have something compatible when the time comes, it may be my next choice.

NOOOOOOOO! I had some wonderful times with my LG G3. And I loved the G6 and my husband's LG Velvet is awesome. This is too bad. Definitely the end of an era.
