LG Star could launch as Optimus 2X to emphasize its dual-core processor

This could end up being a really great phone, but I've still got my eye on the Moto Olympus/Etna for a Tegra2 phone. I like Moto's track record for hardware better. Sure, it will probably have an encrypted boot loader, but if I'm going to be honest with myself I'd probably never get in to tweaking the phone much. It'll be really interesting to see what kind of reveals there are at CES.

No offense to those thinking about pulling the trigger on a Nexus S but this should have been the next Nexus phone. The original was ahead of its time this one is just an excuse to use the Nexus name.

I could be wrong, but I thought that Froyo and Gingerbread don't support multi-core CPUs. Or are they just not optimized for multi-core? If it's the former, then is it really that big a deal to have dual-cores on a phone that will ship with Froyo??

Aren't we going to have to wait for Honeycomb, or maybe Gingerbread 2.4 for dual core support/optimization?

I don't disagree, but the Nexus S is still a solid device. The only cutting edge piece of tech in the Nexus S is the NFC which seems all but pointless at the moment. However, IMHO a Nexus S running a fully optimized Android 2.3, with updates direct from Google, is better than an Optimus 2X running Android 2.2 with updates coming when??

For me, it's only a matter of the physical design of the phone. I'm sure there will be a launcher replacement that I'd enjoy just fine to get over the lack of vanilla. The fact that it is square, plain and symmetrical all over really bugs me.

At least it's not plastic like NS or Galaxy line. I couldn't imagine dropping one of Sammy's phones and it surviving the fall. If only LG put some kind of curves on this thing...I like my phones looking at least a touch organic.
