This is a recent issue, but it has been driving me nuts for the past couple of weeks. I own a Samsung GS3 (SGH174M) running Android 4.4.2. I previously purchased and loved the LG Tone (HBS-730) bluetooth headset which worked beautifully with this phone. Now I'm running into a problem with the headset disconnecting from the phone. This does not appear to be random, but the series of events is as follows:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on both headset and phone
  2. Headset connects to phone; no issue
  3. Select my music player (either stock music or any other (ie. Neutron, RocketPlayer, etc.) and star playing music.
  4. Music plays fine and I lock screen
  5. Several minutes later, headset disconnects from phone - few minutes after screen has shut off. (Likely at the time that the phone goes to 'sleep').
I never had this issue before, and it appears that it's strictly with respect to the headset, as my Bose Soundlink Bluetooth speaker does not seem to be affected by this issue. Finally, I can confirm the following: Phone and headset have been fully charged, I've deleted and re-added the headset to the phone, I've gone as far as factory resetting the phone and still encounter the same problem. Screen timeout is set to 5 minutes of inactivity and I've had the 'Power saving mode' turned on and off, and encounter the same problem each time.

Any recommendations would be appreciated as the headset has excellent sound quality and the phone is still in great condition. Side note: I have the Galaxy Tablet with the 7" screen and have not encountered this when its screen shuts off; I can continue to listen to music even after the screen shuts off.

Please let me know if you need further information.
