LG V10 can't play videos above FHD (1080p)

From the day I bought the phone, I wasnt able to get my LG V10 to play 1440p videos at all (Yes I checked if they supported the resolution) all I can get out of it is 1080p. Is there any workaround for it?

The screen supports the resolution, but does the app playing it? Some apps can't play 1440p.

Its youtube so yes, it should support it, and yes it's the newest version

had just got a used V10 to hold me over until the V40, Pixel 3 or OnePlus 6T comes out and I discovered the same thing. I don't remember that being an issue years ago when I originally had this phone. I'm not sure why it's like that.
