Lg v10 coming from Note 5

I've just been using the LG v10 for the past couple of days and thought I would share some thoughts coming from a note 5.

First I'll comment on the negatives -

Fingerprint censor location: the fingerprint censor works really well and is fast, however I don't like the back position of it. I thought it would be a more natural placement than the note 5 but I find it very unnatural to grip my phone where my index finger is placed on the censor.

Power button, volume up/down buttons: they are placed too close to each other and often times I find myself accidentally pressing the power off or volume down button below when I mean to do the opposite. Also I miss having a button that I can press while taking a photo on the side of the phone.

Sides: the sides are very slippery... I actually love the back rubber plate as it is very trippy and durable. The metallic or aluminum? Sides is a great look however it is very slippery. I tend to have to hold the phone a lot tighter as I feel like it will slip out of my hands.

Not having Physical back and multitask buttons: I thought it would be a cooler feature to implement these buttons within the screen however it takes up some real estate in your viewing screen. I wish the buttons were placed below the screen like the note 5. Also many times on the note I would just press the back button after I take a photo, however with the v10 you need to locate the back button within the screen.

Pros:

First let me state the obvious - removable battery & sd card. IR blaster.

Two front facing cameras: I thought this would be a gimmick but found it extremely useful.the wide angle selfie camera is great when you are looking to take Group photos without having to ask someone to take a photo for you.

Double tap to on/off: my fav feature of LG phones that I missed while having the note 5.

Lg keyboard: I find lgs keyboard much better and customizable than the Samsung. I've always used swift key in the past but haven't found a reason to switch over as the interface and layout is great.

You do realize your on screen buttons can be hid in most apps.

I find the sides of this phone way less slippery than the note5.

Other than that I agree with most other things you have said.

I just got my LG V10 today, came from a note 4 that had started giving me problems. The back buttons are gonna take some getting used to. I really like the sides and back but feel I really need a case. Just to be more secure. I found one on Amazon for $7.99. Not expecting it to be fabulous but just something until I can find something better. So far the battery life is alarming though. Hope that gets better!

I agree with you about the sides of the phone being slippery but no more slippery than the Note 5. Also agree about the face buttons and wish they were placed below the screen.

I disagree about the fingerprint scanner location, I actually find it in a more natural position when holding the phone. Yes, it is a little difficult to grip with the sides of the phone being slippery but I plan on getting a case for it anyways so that should remedy that issue.

For me, these things are minor inconveniences to have expandable memory, removable battery and an IR blaster.

I ordered one on Amazon too for $7.99. Did you get the OBLIQ one?

I came from an S6 Edge +, and the V10 is a far superior phone. Not even talking about the removable battery and SD card slot. The UI is much more fluid and everything just 'works'. I'm also enjoying the premium feel over the Edge plus.

Screen is better. Whiter whites. Removable battery is awesome. And yes swiping left and right on the lg keyboard to shrink it left and right is a one handed users dream. Love this phone. Also the software update today fixed the fingerprint reader issue when using a case.

What is your carrier? I have Verizon and I don't think I recieved an update. How would I know if I did or not?

i am on at&t here in the US. others have also reported that the sizeable software update from at&t yesterday has completely fixed fingerprint issue with cases.

check out the lg v10 forum on reddit or xda for confirmation.

Good luck if you're on verizon ;)
