So, just recently, OnLeaks posted a bunch of renders exclusively to Android Authority that paint a picture of how the LG V20 might look like.

Note that while OnLeaks has been quite reliable with these renders in the past, especially concerning the Nexus 5X and 6P, alongside the recently-announced Galaxy Note7, take this with a grain of salt until September 6th.

Anyhow, the renders seem to paint the V20 as a larger LG G5 with the dual-display array carried over from the V10 and the "Friends" modular system might make a return this time. Like its smaller sibling, the rear-volume keys have been ditched. Dimensions seem to be 159.5mm tall and 78.1mm wide, with it being 7.7mm thick (that's 6.3 inches tall, 3.1 inches wide and 0.3 inches thick). The camera bump raises overall thickness to 8.8mm, or 0.35 inches.

What do you guys think?

If the back is rubberized, good. If it's the same plastic as my g5, I'm out. I loved the v10, and if they turned it into a larger g5, as it looks like here, I won't forgive them.

You beat me to it, I was just about to post a link.

I love my G5 but never intended to purchase the mods. They didn't intrigued from the jump. I kinda can't believe their sticking with this, especially since Lenovo put them to shame.

From the renders, they might go with a metal body with the "microdizing" finish (basically the LM201b alloy with primer and paint) like on the G5. However, there's always the chance that they might go with a more conventional anodizing method. We shall see.

Well, something tells me that by the time the G5 was released, the V20 was already so far into development, to the point where they can't do another drastic redesign while still meeting deadlines.

At the very least, I hope there's actually much more modules to choose and that they are hot-swappable.

That's an area where Motomods dominates LG's Friends, and they're arguably the 2 most important things.

Spigen makes a fantastic slim case for the G5. Gives it kind of a Nexus 5 feel with a soft rubberized finish.

Kinda what I figured. Still makes me a little sad as everyone seems to focus on the mods a won't judge the device on its own merits. Negative public reaction coupled with the G4 the debacle from last year has made 2016 a lost year for LG.

Yeah, 2016 has been quite a hit (not in a good way) for LG's mobile division. Then again, a lot of companies did lose a bit throughout the year, even Apple, though LG's gamble didn't pay off.

Samsung, Huawei and some others did have a good year, though.

I have the g5 and am fine with performance. I've just basically come to hate the form factor, from the paint to the button change to the bezel.

The v10 felt like a tank, a phone that didn't need a case. It's ruined me because that's what I want now, and LG (maybe) only gave it one iteration before (maybe) changing things drastically.

I kind of like it - especially it looks like it will have wide angle camera on front and back. Two best features to me.

That does not look like a module releases button to me. Its too far up the phone compared to the G5. Looks more like a camera shutter button.

That does seem likely, but there's also a seam at the back of the phone where the chin is.

A couple things, if these renderers are accurate...

1) Looks like they moved the buttons to the side of the phone. Really wish they would have kept them all on the back and the sides clean.

2) Looks like they've gone away from the rubberized back of the V10 and not really sure from the renders if the back is removable or if the battery is sealed in. The lack of a rubberized back doesn't really bother me as much because I use a case anyways. Also there seems to be a crease on the back of the phone, towards the bottom. I hope this isn't going to be modular like the G5!

3) No steel side rails like on the V10.

4) They kept the speaker at the bottom of the phone....Really wish LG had put it on the front towards the bottom where there's nothing.

Lol its funny how people thought the V20 wouldn't be modular. Merely looking at their V20 teaser invite, the play more slogan (which they used with the G5) seems to have modularity written all over it.

Now looks like this phone will be a beast. All they just need to do is make their UI slick and come out with a killer camera this time. Btw, real metal wouldn't hurt this time as opposed to some primer ****, wait what's that?

This is shaping up to be my favourite android phone along with the Moto Z

I'm a big LG fan and I think the renders look good but not good enough to make me second guess my Note 7 preorder. I'll definitely take a look at the V20 in person once it hits stores but very unlikely that I would Jump to it.

If the renders are what it's finalize design actually is, then they will loose a lot of V10 owners upgrades.

I suspected that their modules would be used since they invested so much in them and these renders give credence with the visible chin area and button.

As to the removable battery, having it is better than not, but I will wager that it is the last year for it since they can't offer a "pleasing premium design " with a removable back to make sure they don't get slammed by some reviewer who doesn't understand the wants of those who prefer them...

Maybe the renders aren't even close... One can hope and we'll know for sure in a little while..

Man I really would've liked to see them run with the rugged design aspects of the v10. The rubber and steel on that phone felt awesome in the hand. Perhaps they could've gone with a shatter proof (resistant) display as well?

The s7 edge has been a pleasant surprise for me, but it doesn't give me everything I want in a phone. Everything else so far this year has been pretty disappointing to me :-\

Maybe the ace up their sleeve is the actual modules if they have them? Maybe they've struck bigger better partnership deals and have a much bigger and better array of Friends to release with the V20 arrival? Probably not but hey you never know
