LG V20 Cradle

[Android Central Question]

I have 5 batteries for my LG V20. Every time I charge a battery in the cradle now, it never gets to 100%. The cradle green light comes on indicating that the battery is fully charged but when I insert them into the phone, I get to 85-90%. Leaving them in the cradle longer doesn't make it better and I can only get to 100% if I charge a battery in the phone. Is this a cradle issue or is it a battery issue due to being charged too often?

That is likely by design to keep from overcharging the batteries and consequently killing them.

Not sure I agree. I used to get 98-100% from the cradle. I think the batteries are just getting old. This is a new issue after 2 years of charging.

That's definitely a possibility. The boot up process can easily drain that much from a battery (because you're swapping after using the cradle) if it's starting to go bad. Once fully running, does it seem to drain fast as well?

Yes. They go from 95% to 80% very fast. Two years is about as long as I expected them to last. I try not to use the same batteries over and over again. Of the 5 batteries, 1 lasts 2 hours of use. The other 4 lasts 5-6 hours of normal use. I have 6 more months to pay on this phone and will limp along thru the Summer and then hope reasonably priced 5G phones come out in the Fall. I am still happy to go from 10% to 90% within one minute of swapping phones. During a recent weekend in NYC, 3 batteries got me thru 12 hours of use without a need to charge in an outlet or battery pack. We V20 owners are very lucky!
