LG V20 pic

Looks just like the renders.

Do you have the phone in your possession? If you do, then two things:

1) Is it modular?
2) If no, is the back removable?

Purrrrrty! I already know I want one as long as the battery capacity is decent.

This is going to be king of 2016. They just have to get past the marketing hype and deserved success(this year at least) of Samsung.

I'm probably in the minority here.

But I can't shake the feeling that I've seen that sort of design before. Reminds me of the BlackBerry Z30 in a lot of ways, and the LG logo on the black chin reminds me of that HTC black bar on the M8 and M9.

To be honest, I preferred the V10's design. That phone was very good-looking, even today. It also had a unique material choice that set it apart from the metal-clad phones plus the glass-backed Galaxy S6 and Note5 at its time.

Maybe my opinion might change when I see it IRL, but as it stands right now, the V20 looks....kinda generic, honestly. Not that it's a bad thing, but the V10's design did it better for me, personally. I still love how that thing looks, even right alongside my Note7. One of those phone designs that ages gracefully over time.

The real question for me is reliability. Has LG improved their QC significantly after issues with the G4 and G5, along with some V10s? I hope so as LG makes some really compelling hardware.

@diehard or anyone actually. Out of the V10, Moto Z, V20 and the Note7, which is more beautiful, eye catchy to you? There's a reason I'm asking you, pls be honest. Which one will a normal consumer instantly love or be amazed with. You can rank them in order and reasons why. I want to surprise my elder brother this fall. Thnks

Well, I'm asking you guys this because I have this exact same feeling about the V20. It just looks too generic, really meh for my liking. As for me, the V10 was a show stopper and would I be wrong if I say that the V10 is one of the best designed phones of all time?

Well the design is a little muted compared to my V10 but it looks good. It's going to come down to the battery and camera for me. I would be highly disappointed for LG to put a 4100 mah battery in the budget X Power and the flagship get a 3000 mah one.

If I had to rank them, it would be like this. Note that this is my personal list, but I'll list reasons why I think they are ranked as they are, and see if they matter to you.

Note7 - Arguably the mainstream option, and also one of the very best looking Android phones around, with a symmetrical design on both the front and back, along with a beautiful curved design on both sides. You have to see it in person as pictures don't do it justice. However, it's also quite the fingerprint magnet, and if your palms have the tendency to be sweaty, it gets pretty slippery.

LG V10 - A very close second. The V10 may not have the universal appeal of Samsung's glass-backed design, but I think it still looks really good in its own right. It still has a rather unique choice of materials, with stainless-steel rails and a rubberized silicone build for extra durability, while also retaining some LG stuff like the slim bezels. The black V10 with gold accents is probably one of the more eye-catching phones around.

LG V20 - Looks generic at this point, kinda like a cross between a BlackBerry Z30 and an HTC One M9 (95% BB, 5% M9), but in a way, that might not be too bad. It still retains a largely clean front with minimal side bezels. However, I can't help but feel that it lost some of the V10's appeal in terms of materials and design, especially since the LG logo on the black chin kinda brings memories of HTC's famous (and much-hated) black bar on the One M8 and M9.

Moto Z - The phone by itself isn't a bad looker. It just doesn't look as clean as I'd like it to be. The black model looks good, but the white model looks a little goofy with large visible IR sensors and a squared-off finger-scanner on the chin. It's also really thin unless you get the Force, so a Style cover is recommended. The rest of the phone is not too bad, however, though you might have to consider a Motomod or two, which does push the phone closer into S7 territory in terms of price.

That's just my personal list. Your own mileage and thoughts will certainly vary.

No this will not be the king of 2016. LG has a lot of damage control to do. The G4 and G5 didn't do as well as LG expected. I think they are losing more consumers than they are gaining.

I'm still holding out for what it may offer though. If the camera is indeed improved and has more megapixels for cropping and detail that's a huge bonus for me. Also I'm interested to see if LG has fixed the wobble wobble in video optical image stabilization. I already know wired audio will be amazing. Lastly if they just give in and out the same 4100mAh battery in the V20 that they did in the X Power, that will be the complete phone for ME. And in my opinion that will make it the king of phones for 2016 just like the V10 was for me last year and most of this year as well for me at least.

The wobble effect is an OIS thing. My Note does it too.

You have to drop back to 1080p to enable hybrid-stabilization to smooth that out. If they could make it work in 4K, that would be sweet.

I can't tell if this has side buttons or not. Can someone confirm please

The OP confirmed buttons on the side in a post above. Only button on the back will most likely be the power/fingerprint scanner.

So because the G4 and G5 weren't successful means that the V20 is not going to be a good phone? I don't think so. This could be the best phone of 2016 but still have crappy sales. So are we talking about hardware here or sales figures?

Well, so much for the V20. Hopefully they will fix it in the V30.
