Hey, I've got to upgrade my phone, for.... Reasons. I need some of your thoughts on what you advise on. Should I go with the V40 or the Note8?

I love my V20. So I'm inclined to stick with the V series. But I miss having my stylus.

What are your thoughts?

Note 8 is a generation behind V40. It doesn't have a wide angle camera front or rear, nor hifi quad dac. Nor receiver as mic for audio recording. Nor 4k60fps video recording. Note 9 is more comparable. Of course you get the S pen. I used to have Samsung Galaxy and Note but the V series to me have more flexibility to create content.

If I had to pick between those two, I'd go with the V40, but I'd be holding my nose in the process.

Yeah, the note 9 would be a contender if I had the funds to afford that but keeping my budget at $15 a month. A pre owned 8 is $12. The 9 is $20 or $25.

Your points are great ones. Actually very helpful. Went ahead and ordered my V40 case. Thank you!

I have all 3 phones; V20, V40, and the Note 8.

I got the V20 as a backup phone in 2018 because the price was so good and it has the SD card. It got Oreo and it's been a fantastic phone ever since the Oreo update. Love the removable battery, 2nd screen, Quad Dac and camera.

I had the S8+ but went to the V40 because of the Band 71 on T-Mobile (the S8+ did not have it). The reception is so much better for me at work. I work in a 2nd floor w/no windows lol. Camera is great, Quad Dac, super smooth UI.

I love the Notes so I picked up a used Note 8 for the heck of it at a really good price and love that. No Band 71 but it got Pie/One UI and Dolby was in that update. It's nice to have Dolby (not as good as Quad Dac but it's good enough for me w/some tinkering w/Samsung's audio profile settings)

I love all 3 phones and switch off for daily drivers.

Let us know how you like it after you've had it for a few weeks.
