Hi guys,

First of all apologies if this does not belong here.

I am a Samsung Note fan and used Note 4 and Note 5 and liked them a lot. I was going to buy the Note 7, but it died before I had the cash to do so. Currently I am using a Note 5, and 3 out of my last 6 phones have been Samsung (2 were Windows Phones, and 1 was the OP1). I also used the LG g3 for 48 hours but it had a battery defect so I returned it and got a Note 4.

So, now coming to my question.

1.Should I go and get the V20? or should I wait for the Note 8? (any samsung turned LG users here?)

2.How much different is V10 from the V20? I saw flossy carters review on youtube and he said its basically the same phone...but other reviewers really really like it.

3. Last but not least, currently the V20 in my part of the world as much as a One Plus 3t. Which one do people prefer here?

Also, my main use of the phone is to take photos and listen to music. And a little bit of gaming here and there, but not that much.

TIA :)

1. Get the V20 now if you really want to upgrade now. I think you'll have a much better experience than the Note 5 (better audio, more reliable battery life).

2. It's pretty much the same phone but the design, battery life, technology is much better. For example: built in Hifi DAC audio, no LCD light bleed on the second screen display, improved audio and video recording capabilities. Android 7.0 really helped with battery life.

3. The V20 is supposedly more mainstream as they sell them in stores. I think the OnePlus3T is only available online so not many people are aware of it's existence.

"Also, my main use of the phone is to take photos and listen to music. And a little bit of gaming here and there, but not that much."

- Your audio playback experience will be improved, don't even need expensive headphones to enjoy the sound quality. You'll like the microphone for recording video, sounds very good. The camera is the same as the OP3T except it has dual cameras and better manual controls.

I am a note fan as well. I plan on getting the note 8 later this year. But the v20 is a superb stand in until then. The audio is great. The screen is wonderful. Updated hardware is excellent. I didn't like the stock ui so finally purchased Nova. So much better experience. The extra screen is neat. The camera is also way better than the note, to me at least. The double wide lens is so cool. But since it's not a note, I REALLY miss the stylus!!!

If you're going to want the note 8 and can hold out if you have an upgrade eligibility, wait. But if you're really itching, get the v20.

Do you need a phone right now? You could wait to see what Samsung comes out with if you wanted.

Thanks for the responses guys :)

All valuable input. I like the v20 after playing with it in the store and i have had my eye on it for 2 months. But let me do a bit more research..

True. My note 5 is just fine, though it has a bad screen burn. But the issue is I bought a new note every Feb for the last 2 years and now there is no note 7 so i am having that itch that I just cant get rid off..haha. So I am thinking going LGs route for a while.
Not really. lol. But I got a brand new Note every Feburary for the last 2 years so now I am having N

Maybe buy a used V20 off of eBay to Last until the S8 Plus or what no is out.

I've had almost every note phone. Even the 7. I now own a v20 and love it. I bought it off swappa for around 500 so I would save and get a note 8 later this year. But the v20 is a great phone and I have no complaints. .

My vote would be the OnePlus 3T if it works for your service. Save a little bit if money, really good phone, keeps your options open if you want to hop away later.

If you can pickup a v20 on Craigslist in your area thatt might be the best route to go. I've seen them as low as $350 in my area and quite a few around $400.

I had the Note 5, got the S7 Edge, then the Note7. After that recall, I ultimately switched to the LG V20, and I'm trying out a OnePlus 3t.

If you love music, the LG is hard to beat. It's screen is also beautiful, particularly for an LCD. It's 2nd screen is very useful. I expected it to be a gimmick.

However, one of the reasons I'm trying out the OnePlus 3t is that my LG battery life has been sporadically terrible. There are days where without using it that much, I go through 2 full batteries and other days with similar usage where I'm left with 30% at the end of the day.

Also, for whatever reason, a lot of my apps including common apps such as YouTube crash routinely on the LG and this gets old after a while. Android Wear with my Moto 360 (2015) isn't working properly (music never shows up) despite multiple resets and troubleshooting.

It's camera for quick, candid shots is not as good as the Note 5's camera. But if you learn to use the manual controls and you have time to take photos it's an amazing camera for a phone. Similar situation with its video camera. In manual mode if you know what you're doing, you can get amazing videos. In auto mode it's hit or miss.

The 3t is insanely fast, has a great UI OOTB, which is actually nicer than stock Pixel, and a remarkably beautiful screen. It's a lot smaller than the V20 despite having a screen that's pretty close size wise, especially when you consider that the 3t has either on-screen or capacitive buttons. If you use capacitive, you don't need to take up screen real estate with the soft buttons as you do with the V20.

I'm a few days into my evaluation and so far preferring the 3t, but it's close. The LG audio may make me return the 3t and deal with the bugs.

Have you tried out the Axon 7?

Thank you so much!! Can I also ask, if you notice any noticeable difference in the screen between the 3 (note 5, v20 and Op3t) and which one do you like the best?

Here in HK, the v20 is for $3600-3700 (brand new, Korean model) and Op3t is $3400. So as you can see $200 (around $25 US) is not much of a difference so I am a bit confused here. Haha.

Nothing beats the Note screen.

I see. How about v20 vs op3t? i believe the op3t is Amoled but a lower resolution and i did read some negative reviews about the op3 screen, but not sure if the same issues are with the op3t screen. So Which would be better in your opinion?

I have both at the moment, and in my opinion, the O3t has a nicer screen. But this is very subjective, and frankly both are very nice. The O3t is significantly quicker, but the V20 is not slow. Tough decision.

I came from a Note 4 and love the V20. Great battery life, great screen. No replacement for the stylus, though!

I say wait 3 weeks till MWC then make your decision. Prices might go down on older models & you'll have more options.

Love what your getting w/ the 1+3t for that price point, but the camera isn't top of the line. It shows in low-light. Probably one of the best in that price range though, camera & overall.

Everybody seems to think the Mate 9 is the perfect Note replacement since you mentioned you were a big Note fan. I would def take the Mate 9 over the V20, but for listening to music it is said that the Mate 9 is more on the mediocre side.

I would say since you are a Samsung Note Fan, wait for the next Note device. Rather wait a couple extra weeks and be extremely happy, than purchase another device only to possibly regret your decision when the Note 8 launches. The V20 and 3T are tremendous devices so maybe a little change in scenery would be good? :)

I would say its a worth while upgrade. It may not be huge, but there is definitely a difference. Plus, you get some improved camera photos which is a really big plus for me :)

The OnePlus 3T is the best value for your buck - it's the best deal on the market now, IMO. Flagship specs/performance at an unbeatable price. However, if you're a Note user/lover, maybe the V20's size would be more appealing to you? The V20 and V10 are both stellar options, in my opinion - you can't go wrong with either purchase! I think it also boils down to whether or not you want the "latest and greatest." Due to the V20's release, the V10 will be less expensive now; so that's another thing to think about if you're looking to upgrade yet save a little bit of coin! Let us know what you decide!
