LG V30 mic not working after being in water

Is there someone who might be able to tell me why my mic no longer works after my V30 was in water. Is there a way to fix it?

Once a phone gets water inside it, if you don't correct the problem in minutes at the latest, it's a goner. Maybe not now, but the minerals in the water will keep eating at the copper and other metals in the phone until you have missing circuits and shorts.

Read Oh, no! My Phone got Wet! for the next time you want to take your phone near water (which includes the bathroom).

I agree but the V30 is water resistant and the mic should still work unless it was exposed beyond the rating.

Resistance to being IN water yes. Resistant to even a little splash or pressure when it's immersed? They don't warn you about that.

I put my LG V30+ phone twice in the swimming pool and my microphone dead. I repair it under warranty twice. IP68 from LG is fake. Will never by LG again. Very disappoint. Samsung S9+ more better than this LG fake

You're lucky they repaired it. Water damage is not covered under warranty regardless of IP rating. So in your case I'm going to take 3 guesses and I reserve the right to be wrong on all 3.

1: LG didn't realize it was water damage
2: It actually wasn't water damage
3:. LG was being benevolent

Your statement about LG verses Samsung leaves me wondering how you came to that conclusion. I'm wondering also if Samsung would have fixed it without cost to you.

Well, LG is trying to repair it's image after like 2-3 years of the bootloop fiasco in the G3 and G4 and haven't really recovered. So they're probably a bit more lenient.

Maybe....maybe not....we don't know much about the actual situation. Your guess is as good as mine or anyone else's.

I washed my V30 before selling it. (Good phone btw) and I thought I ruined it as the Mic stopped working. But after some persistent blowing into the mic to dry, the problem did resolve itself. So even a gentle washing under the sink can be a problem. I don't recall this ever happening to my pixel 2 XL or my s8+

Read the warranty. When the warranty says it covers IP 68 then I will believe in a rating of IP 68.

Warranty will never ever cover the rating of IP 68 even if it is actually IP 68 because it's easy to exceed the IP rating of 68 in everyday life. Heck putting the phone under a faucet already is in excess of IP 68.
