I've just got the new LG V40 last week. It's my first andoid phone in almost 10 years.

I've read that you can format a SD card to "blend" with internal storage and add overall storage to the device. The option doesn't appear to be there to do this. I get a format option, but that just formats the sd card as portable storage.

Anyone figured this out on the LG V40, or Oreo 8.1 yet?

Samsung and LG realized what that does to the SD card (eats in an a relatively short time), so they each opted to not include the "capability". (Wen the card goes, you have to do a factory reset, and if you don't have everything backed up, you've lost it.)

Besides, it's meant as a stopgap measure for 8GB phones, to be able to use them with larger OS versions until you can get a new phone. There's no reason for it in even a 64GB phone (and the V40 comes in a 128GB version too.) Just keep all your files (music, pictures, video, etc.) on the card. I'm a software junky, I install apps to help people who need help with those apps and forget to uninstall them until I have a lot of clutter installed, and I;m nowhere near filling a 64GB phone.
