LG V40 ThinQ black screen/power issue

I have an issue where if I have my phone charging in my car and when I shut the car off, if I don't unplug the charging cable, the phone screen goes black and I have to reboot the phone.

Anyone else ever see this issue?

Have you tried just tapping the power button? The screen might just be shutting off.
