LG X K500N won't boot

Hello

I've tried everything to get my LG X K500N working again.

I've replaced the battery, replaced the screen (it has badly cracked), but still the same problem.

You plug the phone in, it charges up to 5% or so and then it tries to switch on. But it never gets past the LG logo.

I've tried the reset procedures (holding down the volume and power keys) but nothing has worked.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Greg

Welcome to Android Central! Does it go into a bootloop, or does it just stay frozen on the LG logo?

Thanks, B Diddy. Sorry for the late reply. It stays frozen on the LG logo but the logo animates.

Sounds like either corrupt firmware or a motherboard failure. I'd lean towards the latter -- LG was notorious for motherboard failures around the time this phone was released (e.g., the G3 and G4, as well as the Nexus 5X).

Thank you. Is it easy to replace the motherboard? If the motherboard has failed, does that mean the data on the phone is all gone for good?

Sorry, I wouldn't know about ease of replacement -- it's certainly not something I'd expect to be easy for someone who isn't a repair technician.

The integrity of the data on the phone would depend on what part of the motherboard failed. In order to retrieve the data, though, you'd have to bring it to a data recovery specialist (which can be quite expensive, in the hundreds of dollars). This is why it's a good idea to keep your important data backed up or synced on a regular basis to some kind of external storage (either your computer's hard drive or the cloud). Sorry!
