Are you tired with our without a custom recovery? I would suggest ota root keeper from the past store. Open it. Tell it to make a backup of your root. Then turn off root and reboot. When done open root keeper and reapply root. Some folks have had good luck doing it this way. Others have not. It's a free download, give it a try.

Just read your post and downloaded Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper v2.0.3. Is this the one you were referring to? It says Useless with: Samsung phones updated via KIES or Odin and older devices using YAFFS filesystems only, any device flashing entiere system partition.

Let me know as I would like to try this method, seems pretty easy.

yes this is the one. Some people have had good luck and others have said it doesn't work. Like you said, it's easy and doesn't hurt to try it. BTW... it says useless with Samsung phones updated with Kies. But your not updating with Kies. You are updating with an OTA and that's what this app is designed to do.

Should I go into CWM before trying this method and do a nandroid backup or is it okay to just attempt it.

How does the Rootkeeper app work? Are you just supposed to click on Protect Root then run the update? What do you do after?

Also, when I click on Protect root two messages pop up, one says Rootkeeper is denied superuser permissions, the other says root su protected.

Also, Superuser app installed, device rooted and /system supports root protection are checked. Root permission granted and protected su copy available are unchecked. Is this how it should be?

The 1st time you open it, it will ask for root access. You must say yes.

When it opens the 1st time the following should be checked.
1. Super user app installed
2. Device rooted
3. Root permission granted
4. System supports root protection.

Unchecked should be:
1. Protected su copy available

Click on the protect root button and the unchecked protected su copy available should become checked. It will then give you 2 buttons delete su backup and temp unroot. Choose temp unroot.

If you don't have the 4 checked buttons at start the remove and reinstall the app and give it permission.

Since I was only stock rooted I went ahead and just flashed the update file and team-recovery file like I did for the LG2 update. Looks like it took, Baseband version is LVPLG8.
