Hi folks, total un-tech new person here. I have a Galaxy S3 ( sch-968c, GSM/ Straight talk-Verizon) running Android version 4.1.2 - Be lucky that I was able to dig that far and get the basics!!!
ANYWAY- my banking app says that I need to upgrade to a newer version for their stuff to continue to work on my device. I'm sure this will repeat itself soon with other apps.
HELP! I have no idea what to do, or where to start.
I don't have too many problems with the device, but never liked all the extra bloatware that gets loaded onto the phones. Just never educated myself on such tech subjects like rooting, rom, etc. Am I even thinking in the right direction? The phone isin't bad, could be faster, I don't have to keep up with the latest and greatest but would like to keep something decent without upgrading devices constantly.
Anyone out there willing to point an old guy in the right direction?
As in: how far forward will this device support loading a new version? And where or how do I start? Do I get to jump all the way up to the newest coolest stuff? LMAO- I am SO lost.
