Like new replacement?

What exactly is a like new replacement? Like say you wanted to change up your phone and use the design refresh. Would you get a replacement design that someone previously traded in but its design that you want? I guess reason I'm asking is! I'm still in my 14 day trial. I'm wondering would I benefit for resale.
