LinkedIn duplicating contacts multiple times in Contacts app

A

AC Question

I've recently gotten an LG G4, and I've seen that it syncs all my contacts from all my different social media accounts. This is fine, and I don't mind them on there, but it seems that LinkedIn syncs multiple times.

It only seems to be LinkedIn that does this. I've checked my Sync & Accounts and I'm only logged in to LinkedIn once, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I know I can hide and delete contacts, only show with numbers, only show certain accounts etc, but I like having everything there.

I can't post links (I've just found out, after typing a much longer post that got deleted when I pressed "Back" after it told me...), but one contact is listed 9 times in my contacts - all LinkedIn duplicates - and I can't even merge the details anymore because it's full! When I go to their account, it has Skype/Facebook/Google icons, then multiple LinkedIn - all with the same name/position/company.

Is there a way to stop this? Am I missing the obvious?

Thanks

Having same issue on both my LG G3s... ended up just disabling the LinkedIn app after one of them ended up with 41,000 (instead of 500) contacts lol.... the phone battery was dying in about 4 hours.

I have not yet been game enough to re-enable it.

Same thing here. Had my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for about a month. Noticed that about 10+ of my contact were merged to the point where they couldn't merge anymore. Things were fine. I could deal with that small of an error.

However, I just looked at my contacts and noticed a few new multiple contacts at the top. So I kept searching. Now I just notice that 100's and 100's of contacts have been duplicated on a large scale by LinkedIn. UGH!!!! So frustrating!!

I can deal with merging duplicates through different app/services, but not nearly a 1000+ through LinkedIn itself.

PLEASE HELP!! This could/does make searching through contacts a huge pain. UGH!!

So I unsynched my LinkedIn contacts, and data for now. Then I just went to contacts, then clicked settings, contacts, contacts to display, customized list, uncheck linkedin, click done. This temporarily eliminates the confusion when looking at my contacts, but they still show when click contacts and then click "manage similar contacts". :/

(I was the original poster)

I'm glad I'm not the only one this is affecting, as I did a Google search and could find nothing about it. I unlinked my LinkedIn account, which removed everything, and linked it again. I thought that fixed it at first, but I checked a day or 2 later and the duplicates are slowly creeping up. I'm not sure if it's adding everyone all over again whenever it syncs (daily?)

I've unlinked it again as I'd rather have none of my LinkedIn contacts than 20 of each person, but it's very annoying.

I am having the same problem with my Note 4. 100s of duplicate contacts per name. I looked and it appears most of the duplicates are from LinkedIn. Unsyncing and hiding from view doesn't help the search function for texting, email, and phone. None of these capabilities work now because the apps are bogged down searching through 1000s of contacts. This is ridiculous. As the poster above me points out, there is nothing on the web about this either. I went to the Samsung rep at BestBuy and they couldn't help either.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I'm having the same issue on my Samsung Note 4. The Contacts app is now so slow that I sometimes can't use it at all. Same with all apps that use the contacts. The Contacts app shows that I have a total of 83,734 contacts and 82,430 of them are from LinkedIn. That's a crazy amount of duplicate contacts. I might have 1,000 contact in LinkedIn but not 82k. I uninstalled the LinkedIn app and my Contacts app said "Updating contacts" for about 15 mins, then it told me that all 82K contacts were "Device" contacts. But after exiting the Contacts app, starting it again and waiting for it to finish "Updating contacts" again, I'm down to 1.5k (the right amount of contacts). I think I'll wait until I hear that the LinkedIn app has been fixed before I install it again.

I have the same issue but with all my contact sources (Linkedin, phone contacts, facebook...). They multiplied like clones and I don't know how to fix this mess. Makes me want to go back to IOS. I am missing calls or dialing in late because the contact app takes 9 minutes to open...after having drained my battery. HELP !!!

I have 149,000 contacts with my Galaxy S5. Apparently I've met the entire city of Peoria. But no. I haven't. This is heating up my phone, and dragging every app I have. And contacts continues to crash. BIG problem.

Disabling the LinkedIn sync and... Contacts still crashing.
Reboot. Same.
Logged into LinkedIn on desktop and disabled Android access. no.
Now it's telling me I have low memory and some functions may not work.
In My Files, it tells me I hav 2.7gb of pix, 5.5 gb of video, and all else is negligible.
The thing's not full!
ARRRRRRGGGG!!!

Also had this problem with my Nexus 5, Linked in seemed to make 25 copies of each person I was connected with on Linkedin. Uninstalled the app, and fortunately, all those contacts disappeared without me having to delete them.
