I am currently an HTC EVO 3D user, and I have 250 HTC EVO Shifts in my corporate environment. The last update of Gingerbread on the HTC hardware, allowed for an automatic search and link of duplicate contacts. Does the Moto Photon or I should say the Moto Android OS have this feature? The reason for this question is, we have had alot of issues with the HTC Evo Shifts, and if we find a device we are happy with, Sprint will swap out all devices. We are not open to BB, Win7 phones, or even waiting for the iPhone(if that even hapens). We want Android.

not getting the link. still showing multple contacts with same names and number

not sure on the details why but my Photon is having bigtime contact problems. Contacts can be synced from Exchange down to phone but doesn't sync the contact photos. Contacts created or modified from the phone don't get synced back up to Exchange. I spent an hour on the phone with Motorola last night and they just suggest its an Exchange 2007 problem on my company's end and they need to enable some feature. maybe but my Palm Pre never had that problem and other's Androids and iPhones don't have the problem either, just my Photon. We tried all the resetting we could handle before he gave up. No fix from Motorola. :(

I am having some problems linking contacts as well. It does it for some and not for others. I have facebook, google, and linkedin all synced but then when I enter a phone number as a seperate contact, the phone does not link them. I wish i could have the option to link them manually, like i did with my Palm Pre.

you can link them manually. Go edit a contact you want to link. When in edit mode hit the menu button. There will be a join button that you can now manually link your contacts.

Thank you! I've been bummed that I couldn't do this. On the Evo 3D the option to join was on the "view contact" screen and I didn't look in the "edit contact" screen.
