links no longer open in texting app

Using S6 stock texting app. When I receive a link from a friend and a trusted link, I click the link to open and only a white blank page opens.
I retested this borrowing another phone sending a known good link to myself and still just a blank white page opens when I click the link. It previously worked, any ideas what might have changed?

Well trying to solve my own problems the blank page mentioned above has a "more" button which give choice "open in browser" and it works! but.. I need it to always open a link in browser rather than two step each time.

After the latest update to G920VPS3CPG1 over the weekend...the links in native text app don't work anymore. I guess the update 'broke something'! #annoyedwithupdate

I clicked on the software update again...and the 'Optimization' process kicked off, and fixed it! WooHoo! http links working again!
