Lists return to the top everytime I click the back button

When viewing anything that has lists (such as gallery, music lists, browsing posts on selling apps like "letgo", viewing web pages.... If I click on a link or a picture or anything that takes me to a new "Page", when I hit the return button, it ALWAYS returns me to the top of the list. This is quite annoying when you are trying to find something. I noticed it on "Letgo" but it happens in everything I open on my S8. I can open ANY gallery app, select a certain folder or list, scroll through said list, find a picture I want to look at and open it. When I close the picture or return to the previous list, it always defaults back to the top. This is very annoying in large lists. What setting is controlling that. It has to be Android 7 or even the new iteration of touchwiz because it didn't do this on my previous phones.

Never mind. I figured it out. There is a setting in the developer options called "Do not keep activities" that needs to be unchecked. The explanation offered by this setting is to "clear user activities as soon as the user leaves it". That was causing all apps to return to the top when you press the back button. No idea what this might accomplish for developers but they are smarter than me so I guess I'll leave it at that. At least if anyone else experiences this behavior, now they will be able to fix it.
