little help

ok, i have gone over the process of rooting and i wish i could follow step by step and get this done but my computer with windows software wont even pick up revoked 3 or the hboot software. Can anyone lend a hand with figuring out why neither one will recognize or download correctly? wanted to root my phone and start improving it but frustrated at step 0!! lol, thanks for any help.

Do you have official HTC drivers installed? What about HTC Sync? If so, uninstall those first, then install the new HBOOT drivers.

when i search for anything htc i get nothing, i searched for sync and no results. Would the drivers be under another name for some crazy reason?

when i plug phone in it wont load ADB through usb connection in debugging mode. Is that the problem and if so how do i resolve that? damn this sucks.

ok, tried it again and got the same result. no difference once o ever. Anymore ideas? downloaded the hboot and nothing happens. Is there a step with the hboot that i am missing and need to complete first? Thanks again for the try but any other options for me?

try taking your sdcard out, rooting it via unrevoked, then when you have it fully rooted, put the sdcard back in.

i had that problem with mine, the nandroid backup i had on it from a previous samsung phone (i didn't remove the zip, oops on my part, but no biggie) and i took it out, it rooted fine.

SD card was out and revoked wouldn't find phone. the hboot will not even fire up at all! I'm lost. I even tried with the ladies dinc and same result. will go through step by step once more and see what happens. thanks for suggestions tho and will let u know when I get somewhere or nowhere again......... crap

ok, got the phone rooted now. now few questions. How do i move the revoked forever file to sd card? (do i need to since phone is already S-off from using unrevoked3? Should I leave the phone in debugging mode? I installed rom manager, but the other ones list in the steps i cannot find. ANy help in finding these requirements would be awesome. thank you so much!

REQUIREMENTS:

-Your device must be rooted with Nand unlocked]. Please refer to your devices specific hacking section in the forum for help with this if you do not have it unlocked.
-Koush's Clockwork Recovery. These instructions may not be of any use if the recovery is designed differently than CWM so please be do the research if you are debating on doing it on though other recoveries.

Nand Unlocked happens with Unrevoked so you're good to go there and Unrevoked also loads a 2.x version of Clockwork during the Root process so you're OK? there too.
