After flashing beta8.1 on my Captivate and running like a champ, discovered issues with the proximity sensor, muting and hanging calls. After running proximity tests with SGS tools, sensor was working as it should. Voice dialing finally is working after flashing Cog 2.2, but that was causing the sensor to not trigger when placing phone to my ear, or at least not fast enough. There is a delay between voice dialing and when the actual phone app starts, and after that it takes to long to kick. Not using voice dialing unless I'll be on speakerphone. In the end, voice dialing was the problem. Back to normal now :), instead place a few direct contact shortcuts in one of my home screen for quick access, quicker that way. Anyone experience the same? Hope this helps someone with the same issue.

Hmm, this is turning into an CSI investigation type of activity :). Update to my previous post:
Besides having the delay on the voice calling and the phone app coming up, I discovered also that the problems with the proximity sensor is 99.9% is due to the position of the phone, meaning that all is fine until you lay down or get the phone on a flat position while on call (holding it with your shoulders) the proximity sensor stops working, is this normal or just an issue with Cog 2.2?
Anyone do a test and confirm, make a call with the phone in a vertical position, let it connect, then place a finger on the sensor area (to the left of the speaker) until the screen shuts off, while holding the finger against the sensor, lay the phone flat on a desk or flat surface and watch the screen come up while still blocking the sensor, accelerator and/or gyroscope issues? any way to prevent it?

I'm not sure why this happens. I have Beta6 and I have hung up several times and set the mic to mute a couple of times when I had it to my ear (the screen would all of sudden come on even though the sensor was clearly blocked). I thought it was me (99% of the time I am on speakerphone). Guess not...

Not to be happy about it, but glad someone else can confirm this, I thought I was going crazy. One thing I have to say is that there is an app that allows you to reject a call by turning the phone over on the desk for example or there is a setting on this phone that allows you to do the same, can't find where I set that up to test it, didn't work and never changed it back and I believe I deleted the app that let you do that, can't remember if it was that app or on the phone, going nuts here, looking into flashing AT&T ROM back to stock and exchanging to see if it helps.
Thanks for responding s2h2golf.

Before going back to 2.1, looked at a couple of apps that would control the sensor and found "Speaker Proximity" on the market ($1.00) by Rac, and it works perfect, it uses the light sensor readings for the proximity sensor, PERFECT!, no more muting and hanging, the screen stay off now, happy with my cappy again, highly recommended for those with this issue.
