loading Android 4.5

I just bought this ethernet adaptor and discovered that Android 5 and higher dropped ethernet support for the 2012 Nexus 7.
I want to load 4.9 or anything slightly less than 5.0
Can I do this? where can I get it and any issues with degrading...
