Local Storage on Chromebooks

Good day Android Central,

Is it possible to default file storage on Chromebooks to utilize local storage? In other words do files automatically get saved to Google Drive if the Chromebook has an internet connection? For example- I do not want personal financial documents saved to Google Drive at all.

I greatly appreciate any insight on this.
