Location setting in camera

I turned off the location setting in the camera. It was still adding the location information. When I first noticed it was doing this the other day I cleared the cache for the camera app and did a reboot. Afterwards a test pic did not show the location stored. Today it added the location to pictures again. The location switch is still turned off in settings.

Anyone else notice this; other things I should be checking for?

When you have the Location feature enabled it uses GPS to pinpoint your location. If you turn that off it will still use Wi-Fi/cellular information to approximate your location. Unfortunately you have to remove that on a picture-by-picture basis.

Thanks. It makes sense since they do say approximate location.
But it does not explain why some pictures do not have the location information. Pictures were all taken at the same location, so wi-fi & cell signal would be the same.

It is something specific to my phone. I checked my wife's (also a P3 with location turned off) and none of her pictures show location data. Some were wi-fi at home like mine, some were cell only away from home.

I turned the location permission off within app settings. Not the camera settings. If that makes sense.
