location shows I'm off the coast of Africa

My wife and I have had this problem ever since the upgrade to Oreo. For some reason when I'm on my home wifi (Xfinity) my location shows I'm off the west coast of Africa at 0,0. I'll turn the location off and back on and it works for a while but eventually goes back. This causes smart lock not to work correctly along with other location sensitive apps. Once I leave my house it works fine showing my correct location. I've searched and found other people had this issue but the posts were over 2 years old and there was no instructions on how to fix it. Has anyone else had this issue on the S8+ so far? I'm guessing this might be a problem with my ISP.

Just to be clear this is happening to both your phone and your wife's? Or was it just your phone?

Have you checked to see if other devices are having issues on the network? Does a computer/tablet or anything of that nature show the wrong location?

I had the same problem when i lived in a place GPS could not reach. What's happening is that location services is not recognizing that there is no GPS signal and is not falling back to other methods. Turn location services into battery saving mode and you will pop back to your correct location. It started for me with Oreo too. Since then i have moved to another house where GPS always penetrates and no longer have the problem. Its a pain to have to keep switching back and forth from 'battery saving' to 'more precise', but it worked for me.

What i found more amusing was that for a while windows on my computer (no GPS) was insisting i was outside of Tokyo in Japan. There was a guy on the Insider (beta testing) forums in Japan whose computer insisted he was in Florida. I thought we should trade computers.

Yes both my wife's phone and mine are affected. Our roof blocks the signal so we use a microcell from at&t. My laptop and iPads show our location just fine. It's just our phones that are having the problem since the oreo update. I will try the battery saving method and see if it helps. thanks!
