Is there any way to add the location on the home screen or lock screen?

Correct. Just the location(transparent).

Gotcha. Don't think that's possible natively and a quick search on the play store didn't yield much either, sorry. Hopefully someone else is aware of something. Wondering if battery life concerns prevent folks from developing something like this ... Have to imagine a widget on your screen constantly polling your location would be a pretty significant drain on the battery.

Not so. I had a Samsung, and it hardly used the battery at all. With the Pixel, you have to tap twice to find out where you are.

Adding a weather widget, with temp & location, would be an easy thing to do for the google development team.

I use the stock launcher and when I'm traveling to new places I simply hit the weather icon on the At a Glance widget to see where I'm at.

The Glass Pack by Nate Wren Design has transparent icons and widgets. It's available in the Play Store. It's been a while since I used the weather widget and the one thing I do not recall is if the city changes as you move from place to place. You could give the developer a shout to find out at nate@natewren.com.
