Android Central Question

yesterday (24 march 2019) I had an update install on my phone, after which many things look different, especially my icons. But the problem is the lock screen clock no longer works, I just get a black blank screen now when the display switches off, I used to get an analog clock on the display before the update. I've been into settings and made sure it's set to always on display and also selected the clock type but there's no clock like there used to be. How do I get it back? I really liked the clock on my screen.

I recommend mentioning what phone. Members may be unable to answer otherwise.

thanks I thought I posted this in the samsung S8 forum, anyway I have a samsung galaxy S8

Have you installed any apps around the same time as the update? Try restarting your phone. if that doesn't solve it try running in safe mode to see if the problem persists. if it runs fine in safe mode then it's most likely a third party app causing a conflict.

Do you have good lock installed?

thanks for these response, I've learnt that if I tap the black screen when the phone is sleeping the clock does come on for 30 seconds, then it goes off again. This is progress so now I'd just like to configure it so it automatically comes on during lock and stays on.

There is on setting that you have to turn on to always show clock or something like that then it will stay on .
took a while to find but its there think you have to scroll down .

Yes, you don't even have to scroll down, it's right below where you chose to have clock only, or have the home buttons also.
You select always on or tap to show, or show as scheduled.

thanks I found it finally, it's under clock style/display mode, I saw it was set to 30 secs but now its on all the time, thanks again. It would be good if I could mark this thrwad as solved but can't see how to do that.
