locked att phone on Go Phone?

I'm considering buying my friends 1520, but it is locked and he is still on contract.. Would I be able to use it still for att go phone without getting it unlocked? Thanks for any help

Yes it should work. However be aware if they have it tied to a contract or the NEXT program you risk it being stuck on the blacklist if they ever leave their accounts hanging.
