It's a shame that AT&T isnt allowing us to use the HTC tool to unlock our Bootloader. I want this thing rooted asap. Any thoughts on why they would keep it locked?

This is a factor which is keeping me from buying the onex. I will need to root to enable tethering and various other things i am used to doing. I am hoping this is resolved asap!

They just announced on XDA this morning that they have Root for the AT&T OneX. Still working on the Bootloader.

You don't need an unlocked bootloader for root access... And AT&T are the ones keeping the phone from being included on the HTC Dev program, which would at 'least allow custom ROMs (tho not custom kernels w/o a fully unlocked bootloader).

I don't get it.. there's no reason to keep it locked because you can ultimately import an international One X..

I am new to Android and thinking of getting One X. Since now it is possible to root the phone, would it also allow SIM unlocking it, so that it can be used in other countries?

Thanks.

The S4 version gets vastly better battery life and performs just as well since it's built around a modern two core design rather than a recycled four core design. Look up Anandtech's battery tests.

Just a heads up, a prominent dev on XDA has been able to unlock the bootloader. He currently is testing it.
