Locked N4

Just wanted you all to know that I just got my new N4 :)
It was unlocked!!!
Thanks all.

Sent from my Nexus 7

Yes all Nexus 4 phones, no matter where purchased are unlocked. Carriers are just clueless. I have a friend who bought a Nexus 4 two weeks ago from T-Mobile. She told the CS rep that she heard the phone was unlocked and asked it it was true. The Rep said no, all of their phones they sell are locked to AT&T. It's also possible they know the phone is unlocked but tell customers it is locked to keep them signed to the carrier for two years.

Yeah, there is currently no such thing as a sim-locked Nexus 4. I believe that would take a modified firmware and none of the carriers (T-mo, O2, etc) have done anything like that.

Confirm that these are not carrier SIM locked, I got mine through O2 (UK) and a 3 Mobile SIM worked just fine in it..................................goodbye O2!!

I had a similar sort of question, I'm from the UK and also a little unsure if my phone is locked or not?

I didn't buy my handset from the Google playstore, it came straight from my carrier (O2) as an upgrade.

I think what the OP was asking is that are Nexus 4's supplied through a carrier locked to that specific carrier.

In the UK you can buy any handset SIM free and it will accept any SIM, but carrier supplied phones are 99% locked.

Andy.

Definitely unlocked. I bought mine from O2 as a pay as you go (I'm on Orange). They kept telling me that it was locked of course :D
