Lockscreen notifications dim screen

When I get a notification, from Messages, email or anything else, the screen will wake up, but will be extremely dim. So dim that I can barely read the notification. I have wait for the screen to go back to sleep then wake it up manually either double tapping the screen or pressing the power button in which the screen then wakes to a normal brightness so I can read my notifications.

Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know of the fix

I seem to remember having a similar issue. Restarting the phone fixed it for me, have you tried this?

Tried a restart same issue. After further investigation seems to happen only on certain apps. Eg Very dim for SMS messages using Android messages app, for FB Messenger works perfect much brighter.

This is the lock screen correct? If so. Settings>Display>Screen Saver> Preference gear icon> uncheck Night Mode. If it's not the lock screen, I apologize.

Could it be a default setting depending on the app? Maybe because Messages is a notification that the phone assumes will come in more frequently, the display is dullened? Who knows!
