lollipop south africa

The Lollipop for S5-mini SM-G800F was released in Europe in October 2015. The trouble with Samsung updates is that the firmware release is done by the service provider after they supposedly run "tests" and add on their bloatware that most of us don't need or want...If not the hugh price of the iPhone I would get it for the reason that the firmware release is done by apple and the service providers are not allowed to make any changes to the firmware...
The same applies to S5...

Hello and welcome to Android Central zakavnon!

May I just correct you on a few misconceptions that you appear to have...

The Lollipop for S5-mini SM-G800F was released in Europe in October 2015.

I can find no official Samsung Android 5, Lollipop, release for the Galaxy S5 Mini, G800F at all. The latest release that is showing is for Android 4.4.2, KitKat.

The trouble with Samsung updates is that the firmware release is done by the service provider after they supposedly run "tests" and add on their bloatware that most of us don't need or want

Firmware releases are not done by the service providers for the international G800F model but rather, they are released directly by Samsung either OTA or via Kies/Smart Switch. Bloatware on the international models is usually pretty light as there is always the option to get a non carrier model without any service provider bloatware.

If not the hugh price of the iPhone I would get it for the reason that the firmware release is done by apple and the service providers are not allowed to make any changes to the firmware...
The same applies to S5...

The same most certainly does not apply to some of the Galaxy S5 models, See, 41 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide, particularly #1.6.
