Is there a way to switch between the action of the short / long pressing of the settings button (Square button)?

I want it to show settings menu when I Single click, and show the Applications when I Long press, not the other way around like it is now.

I'm not sure that you can do that. There may be apps in the Play Store that will allow you to achieve just that...however, those may require rooting the device.

Oh well.

I use that button quite a lot to access menus, and less for switching between apps, hoped for a solution.

I moved the "settings" icon from the app drawer to my main home screen, right above the bottom row of icons.

I use the settings button a lot too when I was on the Note 2, but with the G4, all the apps have the vertical "..." on top as the settings button independently, I don't really need to use the menu button on the menu bar. And if I want to get the Phone's settings instead of app settings, I just swipe down the notification bar and hit the gear from there.

I use the square button a lot for killing apps that may be running. Seems to help my battery last from 6am - 10pm with no issues. Maybe its a placebo but I feel good closing open apps, LOL!

I'll never understand how someone people access an app's menu more than they switch between recent apps. There's a reason why the recent button is the prominent function and why apps all have a way to access their menu from within the app.

A simple example- invoking the Refresh command when viewing the forum using the AC Forums app. Or others, when using Tapatalk.

This is readily done by holding the square button until "Refresh" appears. The square button can be used for more than just Settings.

In the AC Forums app, the Refresh button does admittedly appear up near the settings dots anyhow. But in the version of Tapatalk that I use, Refresh appears down near the square button, when you long press Square. So it's easier to do without needing to move your hand.
