Long text messages getting split

Just got the Galaxy S6 a few days ago with Verizon. I'm using the samsung messaging app it came with, and noticed that every text that I receive from someone that is more than 160 characters gets split up, rather than sending as one long one or showing as one long text bubble, I'll 2, 3, 4 message notifications. It's not really a big deal, but it's a little annoying. Any fix to this or explanation?

I haven't used a stock messaging app in a while but have you checked in the settings to see if you can turn that off?

SMS can only handle 160 at a time -- If it is changed to use MMS (from the person sending it) then the message can be a lot longer and it won't split up.

So the sender's settings are set to MMS with 160+ text messages? On my old Android phone it had no problems keeping the messages together, from the same people sending me long messages.

A few thoughts about my experience with this. It seems that new Android phones handle this really well most of the time.

1. I do believe that on Galaxy phones, in the messaging app, then settings, you can check the box that says something like "Auto Convert to MMS" but I think this applies to sending only?

2. I've never had much luck with iPhone to/from Android - stock messaging app always seems to split for me, sent or received.

There aren't any settings that I can see that mention convert to mms. Also the texts I am receiving are from two android phones.

Sorry I couldn't help. If I remember correctly, that's the way it always worked for me. Good luck!
